John Davies, Chairman, Founder, President and CEO
John founded MailSite in Silicon Valley in 1995 and as Chairman, President and CEO has grown the company into a world-recognized leader in scalable internet messaging software. Before founding MailSite, John spent more than 15 years in various management roles in Silicon Valley technology companies including ROLM, Rugged Digital and Cooperative Solutions. John has extensive experience in IT management, product management, software development, sales, support and professional services. John graduated from the University of Manchester, UK, with double first BSc and BEng degrees in engineering and business in 1982. John served on the advisory board of the Software Development Forum in Silicon Valley and is active in several entrepreneurial organizations in Silicon Valley.
Dave Ryder, VP Sales
As VP of Sales, Dave is responsible for direct and indirect global sales revenue across MailSite’s product range. Dave began his career with MailSite in 2001, where from the company's European headquarters, he had responsibility for developing product sales across Europe and the Middle East. Prior to joining MailSite, Dave held executive sales and senior management positions within a number of private and publically quoted companies in the UK.
Dr Chris Wheddon OBE, Board Member
Dr Chris Wheddon OBE ScD FREng FIEE FBCS FRSA spent 39 years with BT plc. From 1993 to 1999 he was director of BT Systems Engineering where he was in charge of all research and development for BT plc leading a team of 6,000 people. Chris is now involved in board and consulting roles with a number of startup technology companies in the USA and the UK. During his career Chris has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Center of Telecoms Management at the University of Southern California (1996-1999); a director of Eurescom GmbH, the European Telecommunications Research Institute (1991-1994); Vice Chairman of the joint Industry / teleco forum for the EC 4th Framework Programme (1992-1994); and a member of the Federal Trust study on Networked Europe and the Information Society. He was awarded the OBE in 1994 for services to telecommunications.
Sam Nissim, Board Member
Sam Nissim chairman of Nissim and Associates (NA). Formed in 1984, NA’s primary activities involve incubation of high technologies. NA activities include forming entrepreneurial / intrapreneurial science and technology incubation and innovation parks, campuses and centers in the USA and UK and consulting services for nurturing, mentoring, assisting and supporting entrepreneurs to progress their vision to reality. Sam was educated as an engineer and directed R&D activities for several substantial US corporations before becoming an entrepreneur. As a pioneer in semiconductor technologies in Silicon Valley California, since the 1960's, Sam founded or co-founded a number of companies with leading high technology positions in their sectors, including Electronic Arrays, Inc., Monolithic Memories, Inc. and, in Singapore, Electronic Arrays (PTE) Limited. Sam was an active participant and innovator in the affairs of the American Federation of Information Processing Societies (AFIPS) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is the holder of several patents. Sam received a Bachelor of Science degree from London University with First Class Honors.
Mark Lawson. Board Member and Investor
Mark Lawson has worked in the real estate sector for 22 years, including managing offices in some of London's premier real estate companies. Having started his first London real estate business at the age of 24 Mark went on to start several other property companies. A serial entrepreneur, having just sold his last real estate business in February 2005 Mark is now concentrating on managing his investments and a property portfolio which includes various residential developments and commercial investments.
Archie MacKinnon, Board Member
Archie MacKinnon is the President and CEO of SutterHill Capital Corporation, an Investment Banking company in Calgary, Canada. SutterHill has completed a number of engagements in corporate finance and divestiture activity for both international and Canadian clients, primarily in the telecommunication and high technology fields. At SutterHill, Archie completed a number of multi-million dollar financing transactions for Eigner US Inc., an enterprise software company, divested a division of LSI, consulted for the Western Universities Research Consortium for High Performance Networking (WURCNET) and completed marketing and business development work for Jade Simulations (A Telus Subsidiary). Prior to SutterHill, Archie was President and CEO of Alta-Can Telecom Inc. a subsidiary company of Telus Corporation, and was Vice President of CDC Ventures, the venture capital arm of the Canada Development Corporation. Archie has an MBA from the Schulich School of Business in Toronto, Ontario and a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia.
Patrick E. Mantey, Advisory Board Member
Professor Patrick E. Mantey holds the Jack Baskin Chair in Computer Engineering and is the founding Dean of the Jack Baskin School of Engineering at the University of California Santa Cruz. Pat is now the director of iNIST, the Institute for Networking, Information Systems and Technologies in the Baskin School of Engineering. Pat joined the UCSC faculty in 1984 to start the engineering programs, coming from IBM where he was a senior manager in Computer Science at IBM Almaden Research. Pat taught at Stanford University in Electrical Engineering before and during his IBM employment. Pat received his B.S. (magna cum laude) from the University of Notre Dame, his M.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his Ph.D. (with an NSF Fellowship) from Stanford University, all in electrical engineering. Pat is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a member of American Society for Engineering Education, the Association for Computing Machinery and Sigma Xi. He is the UC Santa Cruz affiliate director of CITRIS, serves on the Steering Committee of the UC Industry University Cooperative Research Program, and is a scientific advisor to MailSite and to Cenus Technologies.
