Mobility
ActiveSync Service
MailSite Fusion 9 comes bundled with a new ActiveSync (also referred to as AirSync) server that works with the major smartphones to push email, calendar and contact updates over-the-air to iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Nokia smartphones. For all but the BlackBerry devices, this is achieved without any plug-ins, and no expensive and complex middleware is required.
Allied to the collaborative elements brought in as part of MailSite 8, users are given the power to manage their most important data from a wide range of form factors.
- Over-the-air synchronization for:
- iPhone 3G
- iPhone with 2.0 firmware
- Windows Mobile 5 with MSFP
- Windows Mobile 6.0
- Windows Mobile 6.1
- Nokia E-Series devices
- Secure connection through SSL
- Outlook and web calendar automatically synchronized with mobile devices of your choice
- Real-time, automatic, instant updates for email, contact and calendar
AstraSync
AstraSync is separate software, not included in MailSite Fusion. It is designed to provide over-the-air synchronization between a BlackBerry smartphone and an ActiveSync server and is downloadable from the AstraSync website: www.astrasync.com
Windows Server 2008
MailSite Fusion 9 introduces support for Windows Server 2008. Windows Server 2008 introduces some significant changes from Windows Server 2003 including Internet Information Server (IIS) 7.0. The MailSite Web Services have been updated to install and run correctly with IIS 7.0, and other changes have been made to the core services. MailSite Fusion 9 works with most editions of Windows Server 2008, excluding the Datacenter edition.
Support & Management Improvements
The following changes have been introduced in MailSite Fusion 9 to assist in management of the email services. Where Knowledge Base documents exist, please enter the reference shown at http://www.mailsite.com/Support/docs/. Otherwise, please contact MailSite Support for more information on these features.
- Flexible Mailbox Quota counting. It is now possible to count the mailbox quota in one of two ways: messages only or total disk space usage. The numbers produced are different due to MailSite system files such as those used for caching. See KB doc 10209.
- Optionally treat continued SMTP RCPT failures or Over Quota responses as Denial of Service attacks. It has been observed that some remote senders attempt to resubmit mails after receiving an “over quota” or similar response. As this is an indication of abuse, it is now possible to treat these senders as such. See KB docs 10484 and 10485.
- Ability to log the number of attempts it took to deliver a remote message.
- Extended logging information when MailSite is unable to deliver to a 3rd party domain.
